Replying when in Digest Mode Don Wiss, 6/5/98 Replying to an article is a little harder when receiving messages in Digest mode. Most people like a descriptive subject, and not one starting with "Re: DIGEST - ...." But once one masters cutting and pasting and learns the steps it actually is quite simple. Here are some instructions on this: One has to be good at cutting-and-pasting to reply from a digest. My steps: (1) Tag the message to be replied to, starting above the header lines and ending at where you plan to stop quoting. Use Ctrl-C to save this to the clipboard. (2) Open a new message. (3) Paste into the body what you've tagged. With Eudora use Ctrl-' which pastes it with > signs along the left. Agent uses Ctrl-Q. With Exchange Server you need to use Paste Special, Text. Otherwise use Ctrl-V for a normal paste. (4) Cut out the subject with Ctrl-X and paste in the subject field, adding Re: if it isn't already there. Use a predefined nickname for the To field (e.g. PF for the PaleoFood mailing address). (5) Delete the remaining header material that precedes the person's name and address. Add "wrote:" after it. (6) Delete the material after that until where you want to start quoting. After tagging using the enter key will remove it and put in a carriage return. (7) Remove any dangling > sign and add a blank line before writing your reply. If you can't paste with the > signs, you can either add them manually, or bracket the quote with << and >> around all of it.
