North Caicos 2007

North Caicos, Turks & Caicos pictures taken May 12-13, 2007. Includes four panoramas.

1: A panorama looking out over Bottle Creek. Conch Cay and Blue Cay are the larger islands. I was where the road makes a bend to the west in Ready Money.

2: Frank's Cafe in Bottle Creek fed me lunch. This is the first place that regularly serves food when entering North Caicos from below. It was hot out, and so was I. So they got a couple of floor fans and pointed them at me.

3: Someone asked to see my bike with my luggage. So here it is.
thumbnail #3
4: Whitby Plaza. The plaza area is actually quite deep and set back from the road. JoAnne's [now closed] are these rooms.

5: The path from the road to Wade's Green Plantation.

6: The two boys I was with found this on the way to Wade's Green. They didn't know what it was. I later learned it is a gecko, species Aristelliger hechti.
thumbnail #6
7: Then the boys found this lizard, which they called slimy (spiny?). They also knew it was a skink lizard. I switched my lens to get a better picture of this one. I later learned that the skink species is Mabuya mabouya.

8: The two fellows that came with me to wander around Wade's Green Plantation.

20: Flamingo Pond in the late afternoon. It is high tide. I was told I would see flamingos. Not only did I not, I never saw any on this trip.
thumbnail #20
21: A map from the wall in my bathroom. I would have liked it better if the flash hadn't reflected on it. To read it you'll need to get the original size up and fix IE so that it doesn't choke the picture size.
