Index for Album North-Caicos-2007: North Caicos 2007
North Caicos, Turks & Caicos pictures taken May 12-13, 2007. Includes four panoramas.
A panorama looking out over Bottle Creek. Conch Cay and Blue Cay are the larger islands. I was where the road makes a bend to the west in Ready Money.
Frank’s Cafe in Bottle Creek fed me lunch. This is the first place that regularly serves food when entering North Caicos from below. It was hot out, and so was I. So they got a couple of floor fans and pointed them at me.
Someone asked to see my bike with my luggage. So here it is.
Whitby Plaza. The plaza area is actually quite deep and set back from the road. JoAnne’s
are these rooms.
The path from the road to Wade’s Green Plantation.
The two boys I was with found this on the way to Wade’s Green. They didn’t know what it was. I later learned it is a gecko, species Aristelliger hechti
Then the boys found this lizard, which they called slimy (spiny?). They also knew it was a skink lizard. I switched my lens to get a better picture of this one. I later learned that the skink species is Mabuya mabouya
The two fellows that came with me to wander around Wade’s Green Plantation.
The Slave Quarters at Wade’s Green Plantation.
The Overseer’s House at Wade’s Green Plantation.
The plaque on the Overseer’s House at Wade’s Green Plantation. This was taken to identify the prior picture, and wasn’t intended to be in the album.
More ruins [what?] at Wade’s Green Plantation.
The original well at Wade’s Green Plantation.
The Great House at Wade’s Green Plantation.
The path leading away from Wade’s Green Plantation.
A panorama of the North Caicos Yacht Club & Marina
in Sandy Point, a 153 acre canal and beach front subdivision. At the left are people arriving by boat from Provo and men picking them up.
Cottage Pond is a 150 foot deep fresh water blue hole. Unexplored underwater caves radiate out from it. Also see the very different deep hole
I found on drier Provo.
Beach looking west. Someplace in Whitby at 5 p.m. [where?]
Beach looking east.
Flamingo Pond in the late afternoon. It is high tide. I was told I would see flamingos. Not only did I not, I never saw any on this trip.
A map from the wall in my bathroom. I would have liked it better if the flash hadn’t reflected on it. To read it you’ll need to get the original size up and fix IE so that it doesn’t choke the picture size.
Another map. This one by Hollywood [name?] Park.
Beach looking west. Someplace in Whitby at 8:43 a.m. [where?]
Beach looking east.
Beach in front of the now closed Prospect of Whitby. Looking west.
Beach in front of the now closed Prospect of Whitby. Looking east.
The beach in front of the Ocean Beach Hotel. Looking east.
