Apartment 10A, 165 Duane St, NY, NY. Renovated in 1988 by Ryall Bishop Architects. Pictures taken 1991. Scanned from negatives at 3000 dpi.
Primary bath. The sink and floor planes are granite. Called names like Ruby Red and Imperial Red. Large custom medicine cabinet with outlet. Tube light above is an incandescent. It was the architect's idea to have a hole instead of a handle in the shower door. Note shower is a step-down.
Primary bath. Speakers to central stereo. The jetted tub has been taken out.
Closets on each side between the bath and the bedroom.
 View into primary bath.
 Primary bedroom.
 Primary bedroom.
 Living room.
 Living room different exposure.
Looking into the dining area. That bookcase was bought to fit there.
Stairs to the tower room. Living room behind.
 Dining area.
In the tower I had my business office. With a view of the Hudson. Now blocked by buildings. When the prior tenant moved in, he could see the Statue of Liberty.
My business desk in the tower room.
Stairs to roof of tower. No outside pictures taken, either from up there or the rooftop around the tower.
 Tower room.
Tower room. Inadequate windows looking into the roof space. Designs for opening this up, and moving the stairs, were drawn up and not implemented.
My father and me in the kitchen.
 The kitchen with nobody.
The guest bath. The sink and floor are green marble. Cabinets above the toilet with shelves. Toilet is wall-mounted. We had the space. We were dealing with a 45° wall on one side of the apartment.
 The guest bath.
 The laundry room.
 The kitchen.
The kitchen island. No overhang in front. The architect didn't like the look of an overhang as you entered the apartment. The white Corian counters have been replaced with black granite, and there is now an overhang.
Same as before but with a different exposure.
My concertina-action card table with a Tunbridge ware sewing box on top. The 1904 pump at the left is now polished up.
The entrance door, and one of two bikes.
 The foyer.
We designed in a storage area. With a workbench and all the stereo equipment and media.
And file cabinets went back there.
 And a central vacuum.
 The storage area.
My father and me in the living room. Behind is the non-business desk.
Another view of my father and me. Then the film ran out.
